Panama is the capital and major city in Panama. It has a population of around 1.206.792 habitants around the city. Panama city is the main economic area within the country and where most of cultural activities are offered. It has a strong financial and banking activity. The main source of income from our country is the Panama Canal and the tourism is growing rapidly. We have a tropical weather during the entire year.

“Panama Viejo”: The Old Panama is the archeological name that receives this city where Panama was establish from 1519 until 1671. In here you will be able to see it´s ruins, convents, and walls that are around the Pacific Ocean. 

 “El Casco Antiguo”: Is the second city in Panama City founded in 1673 after the destruction of the Old Panama. In here you will be able to enjoy the old streets with Spanish Plazas, and buildings that remain their neoclassic architecture with French and Spanish influence. Is the perfect area to go for a walk and enjoy the restaurant, bars and nightlife in the vibrant and historical area within Panama City. You will feel you are in a different City and enjoy the amazing skyline from here.

“El Causeway de Amador”: Is the ideal place to go and enjoy the ocean and get away from the hectic traffic from the big city. This is an area that links four islands with mainland. Naos, Culebra, Perico and Flamingo are the name of the islands. This street was built with material used they where building our Panama Canal.

Panama Canal: is one of the wonders of the world. It has a longitude of 80 kilometers between the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean. It was built in one of the areas that posses the thinnest land portion in the entire continent. The Panama Canal links North America with South America. The Panama Canal uses a set of locks with gates to go in and out them. The locks function as water elevators for the ships, boat, cruises that go through them. Each set of locks was named after the area where it was constructed; Gatun (in the Atlantic side), Pedro Miguel and Miraflores (in the Pacific). Ships around the world travel daily through the Panama Canal. Around 13 to 14 thousand ships used the Panama Canal every year. In fact the commercial transportation activities through the canal represent 5% of the world commerce. 

With approximately of 9 thousand workers, the Panama Canal it is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year offering ships from all countries in the world the service of transit through the Canal without any discrimination. The Panama Canal has a visit center called Miraflores with a museum that you can observe about the Panama Canal functionality.
